About Us

Integral Zen Center
Bringing love to suffering
Integral Zen is a branch community of Hollow
Bones Zen, a Rinzai Order founded by Abbott JunPo Kando Denis Kelly,
Roshi. Integral Zen is located in Denver, Colorado. We are
currently serving a local population of about 100 individuals who have
attended at least one seven day Hollow Bones Zen Retreat. We are
affiliated with several other organizations including the ManKind
Project™ and Woman Within. Both are international organizations with
about 1,000 members in Colorado. We currently interact with and
provide services, trainings, workshops and retreats open to both
groups as well as the general public. We are aligned with and
support the Boulder Center for Integral Living; and we support the
work and the groups of Ken Wilber including: The Integral
Spiritual Center; Integral Institute; and Integral University.
We have opened a Zendo inside the Baha'i Temple
in Central Denver. We also utilize space and work in churches,
hospitals, martial arts schools and other organizations that open
their doors to us.
It is our intention to raise funds in order to
buy a property for a Temple and City Center where we can hold
traditional Zen ceremonies: morning, evening, Sunday services,
weddings and funerals; with adjacent facilities for administrative
offices, fundraising activities, working space, living space and
community service projects. These projects will provide us with
the opportunity to build a vibrant community and fulfill our mission.
The specific target populations we are serving are: Homeless; Youth at
risk; Elderly; Prisoners; Hospice and those who’s lives have been
changed by a brush with death and dying; as well as, those in the
general population afflicted with the malaise of half heartedness and
lack of purpose in life. It is through community service that we
extend our spiritual practice from the meditation hall into the world.
We deepen our personal practice of awakening love by ending suffering
both within ourselves and those whom we serve in the community.
